Department of Studies & Research in Social Work

VISION
To groom world-class professional social workers with democratic, ethical and humanistic outlook coupled with a deep sense of commitment to the amelioration of the marginalized sections of the society

MISSION

  • To impart high quality education in social work coupled with equally productive field work, research and extension programs oriented towards social justice, human rights and sustainable development
  • To inculcate leadership qualities in the students and make them contribute innovatively to socially useful productive work

GOALS

  • To produce quality social-work literature by way of publication of research articles and subject-related books
  • To sensitize the students to the ideological, political and religious dimensions of the emerging Social Work profession
  • To initiate and encourage those programmes that contribute to the creation of a just and equitable society through education, training, research, policy dialogue, advocacy, social mobilization and community work
  • To be recognized as a liaison centre between the Government and NGO schemes and the target sections
  • To adapt a beyond-the-curriculum approach in addressing grassroot level issues and problems through various social work interventions and community camps
